Blended NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting

This class is conducted weekly, by appointment only Due to range availability and to make it more convenient for you.

Course Overview

Effective May 15th 2016 All individuals interested in obtaining a Pistol Permit must complete the two (2) part NRA  "Blended" Basics of Pistol Shooting Course: You can register for Phase 1 by clicking the link Basics of Pistol Shooting Phase 1.

 

Phase 1 is online and must be completed before taking the in person (The NRA will charge an additional $60 for Phase 1)

 

Phase 2. Is a one-day (8-hour) class that meets the State requirement for pistol permit application. 

You must have your 6 Digit PIN, Login ID, and your Certificate of Completion from Phase 1 when you attend Phase 2

Certification includes:

  • Parts of both Revolver and Semi Auto

  • Firearm safety and range rules

  • Learning about different types of ammunition

  • Different types of ammunition malfunctions

  • Learn the six fundamentals of shooting

  • Hands on training for learning how to load, fire and unload both revolver and semi automatic pistol

  • Then live fire shooting; This requires you fire a revolver and a semi automatic pistol

  • The process of getting your CT Pistol Permit

 

Resident Permit

You need to go to the police station in the town where you live,and request a pistol permit application.

Fill out the application fully, following the instructions included in the packet. Note that parts of the application will need to be notarized.

Once you have the application all filled out and notarized then you will make an appointment at the police station for finger printing.

​

When going to get finger prints done make sure you bring your completed application and certificate from your safety class and once you have your finger prints you will take everything to the police department.

 

Course Fee: $100.00 (Outdoor Range)

                       $150.00  (Indoor Range)

Course fee covers all materials. Attendees are encouraged to visit their local Police Departments and get an application form which should be brought to the class for Instructor sign-off.(so require a Notary Public stamp, which we do at no additional charge)
